Why do patterned plates have various shapes of patterns?

The various shapes and patterns on carbon steel sheets are not merely for aesthetic purposes; their core function is functionality. Different shapes are used in different scenarios to optimally achieve several key functions.
If all carbon steel checkered plates had only one pattern, their performance might not be optimal in certain situations. Therefore, developing multiple patterns is to achieve the best balance in multiple dimensions such as slip resistance, wear resistance, deformation resistance, aesthetics, and cleanliness.
1. Anti-slip:
The raised pattern significantly increases the actual contact area and friction between the steel plate surface and the soles of shoes, tires, or goods. When there is oil, water, or other liquid on the surface, a smooth steel plate becomes very slippery, but the raised pattern can pierce the liquid film, providing effective grip.
Rhomboid and bean-shaped patterns provide multi-directional anti-slip effects; striped or ribbed patterns provide extremely strong blocking effect in the vertical direction.
2. Increased rigidity and resistance to deformation:
The dense diamond and lentil-shaped raised patterns are like adding countless reinforcing ribs to the flat plate, significantly increasing the section modulus of the steel plate, making it less prone to bending and deformation under the same load than a flat plate of the same thickness.
3. Wear resistance and durability:
Even when the raised pattern is subjected to frequent foot traffic or scratches from goods, it can still maintain a certain level of anti-slip performance, thus extending the service life of the entire steel plate.
4. Aesthetics and Decorative Value:
Different patterns evoke different visual feelings. Diamonds appear classic and industrial, while round or bean-shaped patterns may seem more rounded, and some composite or specially designed patterns are more modern and design-oriented.
5. Facilitates drainage and cleaning:
On outdoor platforms or in workshops prone to water accumulation, liquids can flow away along the grooves of the pattern, preventing water accumulation, which is both anti-slip and reduces corrosion.

Therefore, carbon steel patterned plates have various shapes of patterns, which is essentially an industrial design of "form follows function".
We can supply various specifications of patterned steel sheets, from diamond-patterned sheets for workshop floors to lentil-patterned sheets for truck beds, and round bean-patterned sheets for special applications. Please contact us for details if you wish to purchase!
